History

Hello!

My name is Maria Rud, also known as Maru. I moved to Málaga from Moscow in 2021. To be honest, I never dreamed of opening a coffee shop. For 13 years, I worked as a manager and cybersecurity auditor. But things changed. I fell in love with Málaga: its climate, its people, and its laid-back lifestyle. The “tomorrow” and “nothing happens” seemed wonderful to me. Sipping coffee outdoors, enjoying the sun, became my daily routine.

I started searching for the best coffee spots in Malaga, comparing and exploring. I met many people from the coffee world: baristas, local roasters, and coffee addicts like me. I finally ended up at the Malaga Barista School . There I discovered the specialty coffee culture. From that moment on, I knew what I wanted to do: start my own coffee project.

It wasn't easy. But eventually, on November 25, 2023, Maru Coffee opened its doors. Its interior is inspired by the dark books of Fyodor Dostoevsky and the vintage style of St. Petersburg. A complete contrast to the sun shining outside, as we're located near La Malagueta beach. So you can choose the ideal atmosphere to enjoy your daily coffee.

We work passionately to brighten your days with high-quality coffee, freshly roasted in Malaga. We are constantly improving our skills, our products, and our service.
